ISM & Mycored

How we inform the world about mycotoxins reduction

Dissemination is very important to spread MycoRed outputs all over the world. The organisation of various meetings and conferences in different countries will allow public to know the project results and to be informed about mycotoxins.
With this aim, we're organizing International conferences, workshops on specific themes, home education actions, training courses, involving our End Users Club and all interested people.

We are ready to give our contribution to public discussions, open events and conferences (please contact the Coordinator)

Information on aflatoxins and its management in maize was disseminated to nearly 150 farmer and extension agents in separate focus group meetings in Kaduna, Lere and Maigana zones in Kaduna state of Nigeria (August 2009).

Cooperation with AFLASAFE

AFLASAFE is a product developed by IITA in collaboration with the Agriculture Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, University of Bonn, and University of Ibadan.

More than 4200 strains of Aspergillus species from naturally infected maize cobs collected in Nigeria were evaluated. 12 safe and effective atoxigenic strains were identified, 4 of which were further tested.

Aflasafe is a product to be used to reduce aflatoxin concentration in food and feed.

Academics, students and industry officials informed about End User Club and more than 50 people agreed to sign up for the club.
