The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) is the largest Italian free academic Institution, counting 5 seats, 12 faculties and more than 40 thousand students. The Faculty of Agriculture
has his seat in Piacenza, in Northern Italy. It is organised in 14 Institutes and counts 81 Researchers on the permanent staff; it has a strong vocation on agricultural and food research.
3 Institutes are involved in the project: Entomology and Plant Pathology (IEPP), Agronomy and Crops Management (IACE) and Food Science and Nutrition (ISAN).The aim of IEPP is to study pathogens and
their relation with the host, forecasting their behaviour as a support for preventive actions and has been working on mycotoxin producing fungi for many years. The aim of IACE is to study agronomy,
breeding, and plant physiology of crop plants, with particular experience in maize molecular biology. The laboratory has also many years of experience with molecular markers and QTL analysis. The aim
of ISAN is the study of foods for human and animal consumption. The laboratory has many years of experience in mycotoxin analysis. The 3 Institutes have a strict collaboration in several researches
mainly related to mycotoxins in food and feed with main focus on grapes, maize and wheat.
