TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Centre Food Institute: The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) is the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research
in Turkey. TÜBİTAK is responsible for promoting, developing, organizing, conducting and coordinating research and development in line with national targets and priorities. R&D
activities of TUBITAK have been performed through its different centers and institutes. Marmara Research Center (MAM) is the largest research unit of TUBİTAK and includes 7 different institutes. Food
Institute (FI) is one of the oldest and most renowned institutes of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Centre. FI conducts scientific and technological studies in accordance with the national
priorities; technological development and strengthening the competitiveness of food industry; assisting safe and quality food production and solving nutrition related problems in the society since
1972. Food Institute laboratories have been accredited according to EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard since 2002 for currently 132 determinations including mycotoxins.
Food Institute has in-depth expertise and experience in conducting R&D projects. Along with strategic projects that produce scientific and technological knowledge and expertise, industrial
applied R&D project studies are carried out according to national and international priorities. Quality control analyses, consultancy services and training programmes are also
provided.
Currently, Food Institute performs its activities by 3 Strategic Business Units namely: Food Science and Technologies, Nutrition and Functional Foods and Food Microbiology and Biotechnology. Since
1979, toxigenic moulds and mycotoxins have been subjected to various studies and projects of FI both national and international levels.
